Henley Acting Returning Officer Blog

David Buckle, the Acting Returning Officer for the Henley by-election, has started a blog at http://henleybyelection.blogspot.com/ and its first posting includes an explanation of why he is the "Acting" Returning Officer.

Monday's post gives us some info on the possible number of candidates for the by-election.

Today we have had one nomination properly made i.e. with the requisite number of electors signing the nomination papers. One more and we have a contested election.

So far we have about 15 requests for nomination papers, how many of those find their way back to us by the cut-off of 4.00 pm Wednesday is anyone's guess, but we think it will be between 10 and 12. So, the voters of South Oxfordshire won't be spoiled for choice.
